Not that you're not right about the company store maybe not being the best idea, but Sony has a store (just a few miles from where you work), as does Microsoft (somewhat more distant). Nintendo, I'm less certain about.

Doesn't their independent retailer program cover this?

Nintendo has one store in NYC. From what I hear its epic. But, its a little different.

One store for all of Nova issn't the same as 3 :)

In all honesty they should only have the bunkers and make them epic.

Man talk about some bad business choices on GW part. I agree with the Franchising, it was exactly what I think they should do. I was surprised to find out that they weren't franchised in the first place. You really limit your liabilities when you franchise. Their decision on internet sales was a really bad one too. Talk about a company that is self-destructing. They need to hire a retail business consultant or something fast to get their s--- together.

and there's the rub.. Kind of understandable though. Would you want to hand over even partial control of your business to a bunch of gamers?? :D

They don't have to give up too much control. Look at Chick Fila for instance, in order to open one of those franchises you have to follow a lot of rules like not being open on Sundays and benefits for employees. They would just lose control of who does the hiring and firing in that local store. If a store steps out of line they might have the authority to have the store closed based on the franchise contract agreement.

FYI Springfield, GW will not be having the staff overhaul like many stores, for anyone that frequents it and/or is fond of Bing.

Evidently GW and Microsoft are providing the business model for Congress:

Give the people what we want to give them, not what they are asking for, or want, or need.
